Fourth of July Cheese Platter

4th of july food

Flag cakes are our go-to Fourth of July dessert. I thought it might be fun to switch it up a bit and make a healthier version of one that’s just as good looking and better for you. Although chances are I won’t stay away from the flag cake either, I’d probably just eat both!

We used an assortment of blueberries and blackberries for the blue and the red stripes were red berries, cherries and Sriracha flavored Blue Diamond Almonds for a nice kick! I couldn’t stop snacking on these during the shoot, they’re really good and a spicy too!

We collected some light cheeses that everyone loves (like mozzarella and Irish cheddar) and cut them into strips. As you can see, we also used those thin sandwich cheese slices to make cheese stars to add to the table (image below). For the white stripes we added some coconut chips for more texture and flavor.

The finishing touched were small yogurt raisins “stars” placed on the blue part of the flag. Happy Fourth of July next week!
