Mini Apple Dumplings

miniappledumplings5

Whatever happened to apple dumplings?!? Seems like canned pumpkin products, donuts, and apple crumbles pushed them off our fall cooking agendas and I would like to personally see to it that this injustice is made right because these things are amazingly delicious, especially in a mini form. Plus they are so easy to make compared to other fall desserts (yes I’m looking at you, donuts).

mini apple dumplingsCrab apples are in season right now so you’re all going to need to stop what you’re doing and head over to the store to buy some. They are as cute as can be and when wrapped up with deliciousness they make the perfect fall treat.

Cinnamon
Puffed Pastry (pre-made in the freezer section!)
Butter
Egg Wash
Caramel sauce (optional)

miniappledumplings3Step 2: Thaw, roll, and then cut your puffed pastry into squares (about 3 inch squares worked for our size apples). Wrap the apples in the squares

miniappledumplings4Step 3: Brush with an egg wash and then sprinkle with more cinnamon and sugar. Bake at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes.
