Banana Peanut Butter Smoothie

My mom is a smoothie master. She shared with me this recipe when we were in New York last month and since then I’ve been making it everyday practically. When I’m not making it I’m thinking about making it. It’s really delicious. The texture is so creamy and rich, it tastes like ice cream. Really. It’s healthy, filling, and a perfectly delicious afternoon treat.
The ingredients are really simple.

Banana Peanut Butter Smoothie (serves 2)
2 frozen bananas
1 spoonful of peanut butter
1 T of honey
1/2 cup of milk (or a bit more if it’s not blending well)

The bananas really do need to be frozen.
Pro tip: Don’t be lazy like me. Peel the bananas before putting them in the freezer. It’s trickier getting the peelings off after.

Add the bananas to the blender with a spoonful of peanut butter, a T of honey and milk.

Blend away until smooth!
Pro Tip: Tell your kid it’s yucky medicine so you don’t have to share.

ha! i am laughing about that yucky medicine tip! i need to remember that one. this sounds super yummy–thanks for sharing the recipe.

mhmmm i do this with almond butter and almond milk and a handful of spinach leaves (and no honey) and unfortunately my kids don't fall for the medicine drink – the best i can do is shove some protein powder in and then tell them it's an 'adult drink' hooohaawww.simplystylishmom.com

@Betsy lol! It is the exact recipe I made up, and I remember giving it to her and her writing it down, haha! But it's not surprising she would come across it elsewhere. So whatever Betsy says, goes. 🙂

Love all these ideas for additions! I'm a fan of adding greens into smoothies too and nutella- what a great idea! Yum!PS HA! I love the debate going on as to where this recipe is from!

My husband makes a smoothie almost identical to this except he also adds uncooked oats. He blends them up with the milk first and then adds the other ingredients. It is so yummy!

Actually, I got it on line and adjusted the recipe from 1 frozen very ripe banana to two.

These are one of my favourite. I normally use oat milk and skip the honey. Love the tip for keeping the kids away (I don't have any but might be useful one day)

Even better – peel AND slice the bananas, makes it easier if you have a single serving blender. I have one of these every day but add in a cup or so of frozen spinach, which makes it look super green but (I promise!) doesn't add any spinachy taste. Surefire way to prevent your kids from stealing it!

I'm now living in Brazil where bananas are cheap and delicious but where peanut butter does not exist. arghh. Now I need to figure out how to make my own peanut butter.

Wow this sounds amazing! All I need is blender lol- Sarahhttp://agirlintransit.blogspot.com

Erica! Sorry I gave the credit to Betsy-just corrected it!Lindsay, delicious- right!?

Oh yum!!! I think I have bananas, and am planning on making this ASAP!

i've just popped my (peeled!) bananas in the freezer. thanks for a great idea for an afternoon snack today!

i read this, and then immediately made it for breakfast. love it!

This is what I eat every day for lunch, except the bananas are warm on the counter, I omit the honey, and I add romaine lettuce to make it green and add goodness. Sometimes wheat germ or flax seed, too. It's really all I want, though today I think I'll have crepes and Nutella, too.

i used to make a pb&banana&honey sandwich…this would be that yumminess in drink form! i'm totally trying this 😉

Ack! I have no bananas in my house today, frozen or otherwise. I will have to try this one tomorrow! I can't wait!

Pretty sure I gave Betsy that recipe, haha! I made it up one day when I desparately wanted ice cream, and all I had was frozen bananas. Glad you like it!North Meets South

sounds yummy. next time add nutella. you can't go wrong with peanut butter, banana and chocolate! x

Try throwing in a dollop of greek yogurt. I can't stand yogurt but I make this same exact smoothie just about every day and get my yogurt that way. Delish!

peanut butter and banana are like a match made in heaven<3
