Laundry Room Makeover: Final Reveal
Just a review of where we’ve been: in the first post we talk about what we’re starting with. It was extensive. Old linoleum, outdated appliances, wasted wall and cabinet space, yellow(ish) paint, and orange clown wallpaper from the 50s!
In the second post we documented the process, sharing photos of the work that was involved. It was a lot! But so rewarding to see progress as things starting to come together.
Decorating the space has been my favorite part, so I was really happy to work with The Home Depot’s decor line for this final reveal. You may not know it, but they sell a wide range of decor and even furniture (mostly online). In previous Home Depot work we’ve featured their modern sofas, desks, rugs, lighting, seating, even Edie’s bed! Their range of offerings is really impressive, and there’s so much in there. A little/before for you, first:
Two of the big things we added into the space which was a major update was a new washer and dryer. We choose the the LG High-Efficiency Front Load Washer with Steam and TurboWash, and LG Electric Dryer with True Steam. We couldn’t be happier with them! They are so efficient, and the options are so much more advanced and extensive than any other appliance we’ve ever owned.
First up, the LG washer. A regular load of laundry is 20 minutes faster with the TurboWash technology. 20 minutes! That’s a big difference. There are 14 different wash cycles, most of which I haven’t even tried yet! This includes NSF-certified Sanitary and Hand Wash/Wool. The steam cleaning feature is seriously minimizing our dry cleaning bill, it’s incredible at eliminating dirt and odors, plus wrinkles. Also, maybe the biggest time saver for our busy family- you can fit an entire comforter AND set of king size bedding in a single load. Yup.

Moving on to the LG dryer. So many options to choose from: Steam Fresh, Steam Sanitary, Wool, Speed Dry, Air Dry and even Super Dry for those super wet clothes in the rain. The Steam technology is pretty incredible. It reduces wrinkles and odors and practically eliminates the need for ironing and dry cleaning. Plus, the optimum drying time is continuously monitored with the sensor dry system. Such amazing technology.
We found some really great things to finish the space from The Home Depot decor line. There are so many things to choose from, it was really hard to narrow it down. In this spot we picked a stainless steel table for sorting and prepping clothes, a wall mounted drying rack, an awesome natural fiber rug (great deal too!), and some great utilitarian wire baskets. We also picked up some new plants- I buy most of my plants at The Home Depot.
This drying rack might be my favorite thing! The accordian pulls out to dry clothing and then folds back in when you’re not using it. No more of Jared’s wet ski clothing and rain gear sitting on the floor and every door. Since this laundry room connects to the Say Yes studio where I’ve started hosting weekly art classes, the hooks are perfect for kids backpacks and aprons as kids come in from school.
We also found a great hanging pendant light that I’m kind of obsessed with. It’s so good looking! Can you believe it’s from The Home Depot? I’ve really been so impressed with the range of products they offer.
For our new storage shelves (Jared built them into this empty space) we picked out some woven blue baskets from the Martha Stewart line, this great rolling hamper, cozy new towels, and a classic retro red clock. It was really fun to decorate the space- mixing some utilitarian pieces with plants and natural fibers.
So happy with how it all came together. It sounds nuts but I actually love doing laundry in here now.
