Last month we refinished the hardwood floors in the girls room with The Home Depot and refreshed the decor as well with their decor line, here’s a reveal of what the final room looks like…
DIY Refinishing Hardwood Floors: Girls Room Final Reveal
In case you missed the two previous posts in this series, we found beautiful hardwood floor in good condition under the carpet and decided to try and refinish it ourselves. It was a lot of work but really rewarding to do. My sister and brother in law who had done work like this before gave us a hand, which was really helpful. We’ve been really happy with how they turned out. They certainly aren’t perfect, but we’re okay with that and really love how the hardwood looks in there.
Did you know that The Home Depot also sells furniture and home decor pieces?? Mostly just online at this point, but there are some really great things we’ve found. We worked with them and the launch of their decor line last year when we renovated our downstairs basement into a Say Yes studio space. I was so amazed at the style and quality of the pieces we found at The Home Depot to decorate the space. Everytime someone comes into the studio (or the girls room now), I’m always excited to show them what we found from The Home Depot!
When we refinished the floors it was also time to graduate Edie into a big twin bed, and Dot from a crib into a toddler bed. Dot took Edie’s bed, and Edie got a brand new bed. This Cambria twin bed frame, mattress, and box spring is all from The Home Depot! I was so happy to discover it! It’s super sturdy and adds just the right amount of classic style to this space.

I really love mixing old with new, so we’ve mixed a few flea market pieces and Mexican baskets with pieces from The Home Depot decor line as well. Also, isn’t that rug so great? Again, excited to find it from The Home Depot decor line!

One thing that was really fun to do in putting this room (back) together after refinishing the hardwood floors was having Edie help create some artwork for the space. She painted both the rainbow above Dot’s bed, and the GRL PWR sign above her bed. I really love how they turned out. I’ll outline the shapes a bit and she’ll paint them in. I’m excited to do more art project with her and Henry using this same method during the holiday break.
Since most of the toys are in the playroom downstairs, we can have just stuffies and books in the girls room. Although, their stuffy collection is quite expansive (and ever growing). It does make for a more paired down, organized space.
