When Henry was a baby I had a friend, Jen, with 3 yr old twins. She told me a secret tip to steal a few extra minutes of sleep in the morning: she trained them to get their own cereal, milk, bowls, etc without her help at all. I thought it was brilliant (#lifegoals!) and vowed to follow in her footsteps. Our kids are mostly trained to do the same in the morning (sometimes Henry just assists the other two), but it’s the after school snack time that often pulls me in, and that’s even easier to solve. Here’s a fun idea how, in partnership with CVS brand Gold Emblem…
Pick 3-4 favorite snacks your family loves, and that you don’t care the quantity that they consume (aka on the healthy side!). We picked CVS brand Gold Emblem cashews, dried strawberries, pretzels, KIND bars.
This past summer I attended a CVS Pharmacy event in NYC and was really impressed with the changes they’ve made. They have a bunch of new initiatives to make health more of a priority and more convenient. Things like only selling skincare products with SPF 15 and above, and prominently displaying nutrient-rich snacks. The featured snacks are brands we trust and made with nutrient dense foods. I especially love their kale chips (although still working on my kids getitng on board with kale in any form), chia bars, KIND bars, quinoa puffs, and all kinds of nuts. Their commitment to healthy and convenience makes them a favorite for our family.
Store your jarred snacks in an easy to reach location.
Hooray for healthy snacks and independent snackers!
