With stone fruit arriving at our farmers market, I’m getting giddy about warm summer days and especially summer entertaining. Today in partnership with Blue Diamond Almonds new Gourmet line, I’m sharing a fun way to fancy up your usual cheese plate with moss, succulents, and summer’s stone fruit…
I was really excited to try all the new flavors in the Crafted Gourmet line of Blue Diamond Almonds for this series of posts we’re working on with them. Yummy elevated flavors like Pink Himalayan Salt, Garlic Herb and Olive Oil, Rosemary and Sea Salt, and the one we’re featuring today which is Black Truffle. Yum! Not only are delicious and elevated flavors, but from a brand I love and trust.
I love easy cheese plate summer meals (yes, we totally make a meal of it!), but when we entertain we like to get a little fancier. I thought the natural look of moss and succulents would be fun to incorporate into a rustic cheese plate (this one here is from my favorite vintage French store here called Elsie Green).
Cut a shape to follow the natural shape of your board. I simply used some double sided tape to stick it down.
Next, we took some succulents (air succulents or small potted ones with the dirt brushed off), and placed them around the moss. You might have to get creative with making them stay, but don’t be scared to use a little more double sided tape.
Now it’s time to grab your favorite cheese plate snacks! This time of year, I love to incorporate early summer stone fruit in my cheese plates. They’re so juicy and sweet, and a great pairing with bread, cheese, and of course the Blue Diamond Crafted Gourmet Almonds- Black Truffle.
My favorite summer stone fruit are apricots, which are not many people’s favorite. They’re not too messy, easy to eat (the perfect snack size) and they remind me of my grandparents’ home in Utah. We would eat our weight in fresh apricots every summer when we visited them.
In general for cheese plates, I like to cut some of the items like fruit, cheese, chocolate, olives etc. to suggest serving size etc and leave the rest for guests to assemble on their own. Also, I always like to have a gluten free option for crackers (like these yummy parm + seed crisps). Don’t forget your Black Truffle Almonds for the perfect crunch and gourmet flavor.
