At 2 years old, it’s nearly impossible to get Edie to sit still, let alone eat a full meal.  I came up with fun, and healthy idea called the nibble, dip and sip tray that’s great for getting toddlers to eat well. It’s easy to throw together, looks appetizing, and encourages healthy grazing which is great for keeping their high energy up throughout the day.

We partnered with ALDI and their line of The Little Journey toddler snacks to put it together. Here’s how to do it…

This nibble, dip and sip tray is a perfect idea for a toddler playdate. You can put it together before they arrive, and keep it on the table throughout the playdate to encourage healthy grazing. Grazing is particularly great for toddlers to keep their energy up throughout the day, so they don’t get cranky and worn out in the afternoon.

The toddler tray focuses on the three ways toddlers love to eat: nibbling, dipping, and sipping!

To start with, we grabbed some delicious and affordable toddler snacks from the new ALDI Little Journey line. They make healthy eating easy with a variety of foods that toddlers love like organic puree pouches in great flavor combinations, Little Munchers® baked whole grain corn snacks, Yogurt Bites, and whole grain Puffs. They’re great for snacking at home but also fantastic for on the go eating. Sometimes you don’t have time to put a whole tray together and just need to grab a pouch or two for snacking on the run.

Along with the ALDI Little Journey snacks, we included finger foods like small crackers, fruit, veggies, and pretzels, etc. in bright colors and interesting textures to encourage healthy and colorful nibbling.

For the dips, you can include favorites like hummus, peanut butter, yogurt, guacamole, and cottage cheese. Nothing’s more entertaining for toddlers at the table than getting to dip food!

Sips were the puree pouches and strawberry milk in little bottles (just blend milk with strawberries). You could even make some smoothies if you’re feeling ambitious!

Easy and fun for little appetites!

Plates of various finger foods to graze on are definitely a must with my fussy toddler – although they never look as pretty as this one!

Speaking of pretty, where is Edie’s dress from? I love the happy colors 🙂
