It seems like everywhere I turn I see stylish friends in high waisted cropped pants. They’re modern yet retro and admittedly make me cringe a bit when I try them on (especially since I just had a baby). They’re just so cool though and I’m kind of obsessed with the idea of them. By far, the IT pair on the block is the Jesse Kamm sailor pant. So much so, that many just call this trend kamm pants. They’re super comfy and I like that you could pair them with a crop top (another trend I’m loving right now) and still not show too much skin.
What do you think of the kamm pant trend? My friend Lena (above with her son on instagram) says “When I wear them they feel both cool and unflattering!”. Ha! Where to buy them and how to wear them after the jump…
First image of my friend Lena and her son from instagram. Second image from Audrey McCoy‘s instagram.
Right now I’m seeing them in summer whites and shades of brown. I like the idea of wearing them with loafers too and long sweaters or a duster coat for fall.
(Kami above in kamm pants from the West Coast Craft Street Style post on Mother Mag)
Tucked in fitted tanks/tees with sneakers or sandals seem to be the uniform though (images above from the Jesse Kamm instagram).
I love them with a knotted denim shirt too. Very cool! (image)
Next to Jesse Kamm, these Bliss and Mischief painter pants are another favorite I’m eyeing.
I really love this Everlane version with pleats above (are you getting flashbacks to your parents in the 70s yet?)
Black is a more flattering silhouette and great for transitioning out of summer (image above)
Love a cropped top with the cropped pant trend (this crop top + pant combo is my favorite from First Rite)
More budget friendly options:
Madewell has a great kamm pant for $88
White jaegar pants are perfect for summer (above) and have a subtle floral design in the fabric. And this brown color is only $49!
A dressed up version at J.Crew in all sorts of fun colors like bright yellow and pale pink.
Here’s a great version in black for only $21 and this olive pair from Forever21 is only $12 if you’re now willing to commit yet.
You could also try this style in denim (image above)…
Or with some chopped vintage levi’s! I’m having pangs of regret that I skinnied mine last summer.
Haven’t convinced you yet? Okay, okay. What about a cropped jumpsuit like this fun summer one from Zara, another fun version in green and white, and yet another in white. All under $60. Zara is killing it with the jumpsuits lately!
What do you think? Would you try this trend?
LOVE the first pair from your friend’s instagram. It’s what drew me into your post. Also love them with the knotted denim shirt. Maybe the pants just need to be sized up to avoid the buttons/zipper pulling at the top. Thanks for the great info.
Those are my favorite looks as well! I think I could pull them off??
Hmm… I thiiiiiiink I’m okay with this trend! I may need to give them a try!

I have to be honest – I think they look ridiculous. Maybe because they’re not popular here in the Philadelphia area, but, I just really really don’t like them. I’m sorry…
They just look really bad, I think most will regret this move, especially the fact that in most pictures, they look slightly too tight on the tummy, and the flap covering the buttons is pulling open.
If something looks bad on a paid model, it will look really bad on a regular gal.
The only people I have seen around that can pull this off, is kids in high school.
Please don’t do a crop top, if you are over 30, let it go
ha! I found myself thinking the same thing on some of the photos- if they don’t even look good on some of the models, how will they look good on me??
