Holiday Kids Line with Cauliflower Kids

I’ve been working on something fun that I’m excited to share with you today. I collaborated with Cauliflower Kids to design a little holiday line of three girls pieces in sizes 12 months to 4/5T exclusive to Great.ly. I had mentioned before how hard it is to find little girl dresses that weren’t crazy patterns or overly girly. This promoted me to explore a kind of collaboration where I could have say into the design and particularly the fabric of the pieces. Luckily Kasey of Cauliflower was totally down to work together and so one day we met up and brainstormed some simple but classic ideas for the holidays.

We came up with three special holiday pieces: two dresses (one would be more of a tunic for older girls) and one wool cape. Both dresses easily transition to other seasons and the red wool cape is a fun, imaginative classic.  This is a very small batch and each item is really special with hand embroidered details. Edie wore the chambray dress on her first birthday.

See all three pieces for sale here on Great.ly; which, as you probably already know is a wonderful one-stop-shop site connecting artisan makers and influencers. Keep reading for more specifics on the pieces and some more fun images from our shoot…

The proper shirt dress: I love how this shirting dress can easily transition from summer to fall to winter with the addition of a sweater or the red wool cape below (which I’m OBSESSED with). It’s got covered buttons down the front, an angled peter pan collar, and a-line shape for perfect spins.

The darling denim dress/tunic: The chambray is so sweet and classic. It’s perfect with festive tights and mary janes for a formal holiday party. Or boots, tights, and the red wool cape for a snowy walk to school. One of my favorite outfits on Edie is fun tights with a solid color short dress and a cardigan (like this). For older girls, it’s probably more of a tunic length.

The great red cape:  In gorgeous red wool, I think it’s my personal favorite. Perfect for a holiday outing to visit Santa or a special Christmas Eve dinner. In bright cherry red and a lined hood (with the same blue shirting fabric) it’s perfectly festive, classic and fun.

A couple behind the scenes things I wanted to share with you:

This is a little video of Kasey making the stitching on the sleeves on the chambray dress. I love the detail of these:

I think the girls are super sweet and the fabrics used are beautiful, but my first reaction was like Kristin’s….way, way, way too short. If I want to pair it with leggings, I will purchase a top or a tunic.

The cape is absolutely adorable. I love the fabric of the dresses, but I don’t understand why they are so short. I can see why you would want them short for a young toddler/crawler, but I would not want my 5 year old daughter wearing that to school with tights. I guess maybe leggings, but that kind of defeats the purpose of a dress.

I am not joking even a tiny little bit when I say that I would buy that cape in a heartbeat if it came in an adult size. It is so beautiful! That red is absolutely perfect! Any chance you can make a few in a petite adult size small? I am in love!

I am just under 5’3″ and 105 pounds. If you think the cape would fit an adult of that size, I will definitely buy it! It is gorgeous!

Hey Elizabeth! Basically if you fit a child’s XL you would totally fit this it would just be shorter. From shoulder to shoulder it’s 15″ and it’s 17″ long from the front I just put it on and I’m not petit by and means , and it totally fits! Haha!
