Continuing with the new series where we ask some of our favorite women what things they can’t live without right now.
Today, I’m excited to introduce you to my friend Lisa and her picks…
Lisa Wong Jackson is a San Francisco native living in Berkeley, CA with her two kids, husband Nick, and one-eyed rescue dog Frankie. Lisa is a freelance graphic designer and runs her own design business called Good on Paper, as well as co-owns lifestyle shop Morningtide in Albany, CA. She loves baking, cooking, photography, slow mornings, watching her kids play baseball, and the outdoors.
Here’s what Lisa can’t live without right now…
My 8-year-old recently asked me out of the blue what my favorite time of day is. It’s definitely late morning when it’s slow and quiet and everyone’s reading or having breakfast. I love when I can just sit down with my coffee and take a moment to just enjoy a few sips. It doesn’t usually last very long but it’s my favorite moment that I look forward to. My favorite coffee has been Red Bay Coffee’s East Fourteenth. It’s dark, smooth, and doesn’t make me jittery. I also have three favorite coffee cups on rotation that I can’t live without—my gourd cup from BX Ceramics, my Wave Tumbler from Tellefsen Atelier, and my mug from Luvhaus. I’m so grateful to co-own Morningtide where I can get one-of-a-kind ceramics and support those artists. I’m basically obsessed with all of our ceramics.
Self-care is so important and it’s one of those things that’s sometimes easier said than done—it’s usually last on my list. I know, I know. Everyone and everything seems to come first, but it’s something I definitely need to make a priority. Luckily I co-own a shop that carries awesome apothecary products! My favorites I can’t live without are Everyday Oil, Squalane Cream from Salt and Stone, candles from Boheme Fragrance. I’m always trying to drink more water (it’s my new year resolution every year) and I just love my Bink Day Bottle—something about the visual marker just gets me to drink more water daily.
I love baking and cooking and have been doing a lot of it lately. Some favorite cookbooks I love reading include 100 Cookies by Sarah Kieffer, Vegetable Kingdom by Bryant Terry and Naturally Nourished by Sarah Britton. Favorites in my kitchen are large fry pan from Great Jones and all of my spices from Oaktown Spice. We try to go to the local farmer’s market every Sunday if we can—sometimes we just make a beeline to our favorite spots, Basecamp Bakery and Ethel’s Bagels.
