What Audrey Can’t Live Without
Audrey is the founder of This Little Street, the design company where she creates happy + colorful products and works with kids’ brands like IKEA and Alice + Ames. Her mission: create a world where kids can dream, discover, laugh and learn. She is also the author + illustrator of several children’s books, including the Lily Huckleberry travel + adventure series. Originally from France, Audrey has traveled the world and now lives in California with her four adventurous girls.
Daily dose of creativity on my Ipad
As an illustrator + designer, I have to create something new every day, whether it’s a new illustration for one of my children’s books or doodles to get new client collaboration ideas out of my head. The Ipad Pro is by far my favorite thing in the world for that purpose! My Ipad + the Procreate app have helped me explore my creativity to the fullest while also helping me streamline my creative process. And I also use my ipad to read books + watch movies on Netflix. Definitely the number one thing I can’t live without!
A morning routine focused on self-care
Self-care is so important, especially right now while everything in our lives seems to be upside down. I’ve been making a point of starting my day with a tiny bit of yoga (sometimes only 10/20 minutes) + a cup of tea + a good skin care routine. Some of my favorite skin care items include this African black soap (it’s magical!), this everyday oil and thisWonderskin lip blading for when I want a pop of color on my lips. I love that it doesn’t smear on my mask and stays on for hours.
Traveling through languages
I’ve always been a language junkie – I’m French and over the years I’ve taken English, German, Spanish, Danish, Russian and Japanese classes…don’t judge, like I said I am a language junkie 😉 I forgot a lot (most?) of what I learned as I don’t get to use much of it anymore, but going back to Mexico last year to do research for our latest Lily Huckleberry book reconnected me with my love for Spanish and learning languages in general. I recently downloaded the Duolingo app on my phone and I LOVE how I can easily practice a little bit every day – and they offer courses in so many languages! That’s 20 minutes a day well spent, in my opinion – traveling the world through languages.
Pretty + comfy shoes to explore with my girls
I love exploring with my girls, whether it is when we travel the world or when we go on adventures in our backyard. Comfy shoes regardless of the weather are a must (as the Sweden proverb says, “There is no bad weather, only bad clothing”) and my go-to shoes are often DANSKO booties. These waterproof cuties are my current favorite. They are both super stylish and super comfortable. I can walk more miles in them without my feet hurting a bit!
Simple meals that nourish my family
I grew up in the countryside of France and my family always shared simple but nutritious + flavorful meals that sometimes lasted hours. I love cooking with my girls and making food that all of us, adults and kids, will enjoy eating. Some of my favorite cookbooks are The Forest Feast series. The recipes are simple and so colorful. We also love making homemade ice creams with fun flavors from this book, The Perfect Scoop.
