My friend Etienne launched a beautiful project called Having It All, featuring women in her community and around the world asked to define what ‘having it all’ meant to them…
Forty years ago the phrase was coined, but our definitions continue to be as vastly different as our experience as women and mothers. There are a lot of strong opinions out there on what as women, we should think about the idea of ‘having it all’. How to balance the demands of career and family. What we should want, if it’s even possible, and if we should enjoy it when we’ve achieved it. It’s dizzying, to be honest.
It’s an inspiring collection, go check it out. Also, you can follow along as she continues to add more profiles on her Having It All instagram page.
What does having it all mean to you as a woman?

I love this! Reminds me a real life version of the book ‘Mix it Up’

Wow – this is a really inspiring project!
I think we all assume everyone agrees on what it means to have it all – this really put a lot into perspective for me. Thanks so much for this post… it helped a lot! 🙂 Hope it helps other people too.

Thank you for sharing my passion project, Liz! My new personal definition as I continue this project is “having enough.” Another recent mantra for me (from author Lydia Kiesling) is asking myself “what do i want to take away” from this experience of life?
I’m still figuring out what having it all means to me. Going to check out this great campaign now! 🙂

Thank you, Charmaine. Only thing: this is not a campaign, it’s an on-going art project 🙂
