NO MUGS!!! It’s slways good to remember that whatever you are giving might also be exactly what other parents have picked out too- and multiply that for the last 15 years. Things that are elevated everyday things- lotion, lip balms, bath salts, coffee: all good. I’d think twice about treats too- a plate of cookies from every student means teacher needs a new wardrobe or is just going to toss them. Gift cards/cash are the easiest for all, bonus if you go in with others. Most classrooms have a room parent that orchestrates this. Write a personal nice note and mention you hope they enjoy spending the cash on something they like for themselves— not the classroom 😉
these are very lovely gifts but I would echo Liv’s comment. What teachers need/want is cash or gift cards to places like Amazon or Target (as mentioned in the post). 95% of the teacher gifts we’ve received over the past 15 years have gone right to a donation bin. A nice, thoughtful card written by the child him/herself is also one of our faves!
We love making handmade cards for teachers as well!
I’ve been teaching for 15 years and have amassed approximately 18,978 mugs…PLEASE, NO MORE MUGS! Just give us cash. Or better yet, talk to the other parents in your child’s class and have each of them chip in a few bucks and slide that teacher a nice stack.
We definitely support that, but it’s also nice to be able to give something as well!
These are all awesome ideas! This is my first year with both of my kids in school and I haven’t even thought about this yet! Ah the stress!
