DIY Twinkling Stick Snowflakes

DIY stick snowflakes

We’re working with Martha Stewart’s line of holiday decor at Home Depot for a few DIY posts to get you in the spirit of crafting this holiday season. We’re so inspired by all the Martha Stewart projects, season after season. We found this hula hoop project as inspiration for our hanging twinkling snowflakes that we’re sharing today. Here’s how to make them + a roundup of some favorites from the collection…

Supplies: Martha Stewart ultra thin battery operated LED wire lights, found twigs, scissors, floral wire, white spray paint (optional)

Step 1: Take two twigs of equal length and tie them together at the middle with the floral wire. Do the same with another two twigs of slightly smaller length.

Step 2: Place one pair on top of the other and cinch together with more floral wire.

Step 3 (optional) : Spray paint the sticks white

Step 4: Using the led lights, start to wrap the sticks with the led wire. Start with one end of the stick and then move back and froth between branches. We used one pack for the smaller two snowflakes, and 2 packs for the larger.

We had to get creative with hanging our snowflakes because of the battery box that needed to be hid. We decided on a giant pom pom garland that could hide the boxes and add even more more festivity to our twinkling snowflakes. We also used some white tape to disguise any black cords hanging down, and edges of the black boxes being hid. It worked out pretty well!

Gorgeous, love the idea of hanging them in a window or from trees as well!
