Balsa wood is a very thin, flexible wood you can cut and manipulate pretty easily. I love the natural, rustic look of balsa wood and today we’re making ornaments with it! Keep reading for instructions on making them and some tips for working with balsa wood…
Supplies: holiday cookie cutters, string, thin balsa wood (we used the thinest kind), chalkboard pen, pencil, x-acto knife.
PS You can find balsa wood at most hobby stores and online at amazon
Step 1: Using a holiday cookie cutter, trace around with a pen or pencil onto the balsa wood.
Step 2: Cut carefully with an x-acto knife. Balsa wood tears easily along the grain so you have to be quite careful.
Step 3: Decorate with a chalkboard pen if you’d like, and glue some thread onto the back to hang them.
These ornaments are so cute and classic! I love them!

Wonderful! I feel like I wouldn’t be as good at cutting the wood so precisely as you did here. Any tips?
It really wasn’t very difficult, but I would recommend a x-acto knife over scissors
