Baby Wearing Adventures: The Academy of Science

This series of Baby Wearing Adventures in San Francisco is in collaboration with Ergobaby

A couple months ago Edie and I explored some of our favorite San Francisco cafes in an ErgoBaby wrap when she was just a newborn. It was so fun to have her cuddled up sleeping next to me. Now that she’s a little older, more alert and interactive, we’ve graduated her to an ErgoBaby Four Position 360 carrier which I just love! I can walk around with her for a couple hours, at least, really comfortably in four different positions (right now use inward and outward mostly).

Last week we took some photos of a little outing with Henry to The Academy of Science. It’s just a 10 minute walk from where we live through Golden Gate Park, and I’ve been meaning to take her because the aquarium there is so amazing and a pretty magical place.

I couldn’t wait to see what her reaction would be seeing it for the first time…

To walk to the Academy from our place we head across the street to the Rose Garden and down through a gorgeous Redwood grove. It’s one of my favorite spots. So peaceful and chilly. A little magical oasis in the middle of the busy city. I kept Edie facing in on the walk over so she wouldn’t get overstimulated.  ErgoBaby suggests only putting a baby face out if there’s something you want to show them, and not for too long. Maybe 15-20 minute intervals. They need to be close and cuddled next to you as much as possible. Okay by me!

Once we got to The Academy, we visited two of Henry’s favorite spots: Lemon Drop, the giant reticulated python, and the white albino alligator. Then we headed straight down to the aquarium in the basement. I turned Edie around so she could see those beautiful fish. And look at her little face! Can you imagine seeing this magical underwater world for the first time? She was silent and wide eyed, taking it all in!

She started getting sleepy when we went upstairs to see the penguins toward the end,  so I turned her back around to face me.

Then she was free to fall asleep and Henry and I could enjoy some ice cream from the Twirl and Dip truck parked outside.

One of my favorite excursions in the city. Have you been to the Academy of Science?

My top is from Target, jeans from Zara. Edie’s wearing infant saltwater sandals (from a consignment store), polka dot leggings c/0 Hiho Batik.  Henry’s tee and jeans are from H&M kids.
