DIY Boo Bags

It’s never too early to get those treats ready for all the trick and treaters that drop in come Halloween and these cute little favor bags will ensure your guests are kept happy!

This project includes two iron on transfer templates that you can download and apply to some soft bags – it’s very easy and will only take a few minutes, but the results look really lovely.

What you’ll need…

Materials:

  1. Boo Bags iron on transfer template download
  2. Scissors
  3. Iron
  4. Candies
  5. 3″ x 5″ muslin bags (I bought mine here or you could make your own)

Step 1: Download the template and print onto iron on transfer paper. Make sure you choose a paper that matches your printer’s requirements. You will also need to check the instructions on your paper to see whether you need to flip the image first.

Now cut out the image close to the words and illustration.

Step 2: Check the instructions for your iron-on transfer paper to see what the settings should be for your iron before you iron on your transfer. My paper required no steam and to run the iron over the transfer for about 20 seconds. It is a really good idea to do this on a completely flat surface which is covered to protect the surface from the iron’s heat.

Step 3: Peel the transfer paper away to reveal your bag. I recommend checking your paper’s instructions as some paper will require you to wait for it to be cool before removing, while others suggest removing the paper while it is still warm. You can also iron over the bag again quickly with some parchment paper to make the colors pop.

Step 4: Repeat the above steps for the number of bags you need to make. In no time at all you will have a lot of cute favor bags ready to be filled.

Step 5: Now fill your bags with candies. You could also fill them with a healthy snack or a little toy from your local dollar shop.

Can you help advise how to reverse the image to print onto the transfer paper? Thanks so much!! 🙂

Hi this is a very cute idea. I tried to download the template and it didn’t link to anything. Thanks so much. Marnie
