Families Who Rock

Growing up I have very vivid memories of my aunt from Boston bringing over a tape of the soundtrack from the movie ‘Stand by Me’. My siblings and I paraded around the dining room table over and over again to the song, Lollipop. We’d dance and laugh and get all our wiggles out until we were out of breath.

I’ve tried to continue the tradition and try to have frequent dance parties with Henry as well. I love seeing him move that skinny little body in all sorts of crazy ways, totally uninhibited and free (I wish I could not care what I looked like when I dance!). Ever since I got a new portable speaker system for my birthday last week the dance parties have increased in frequency.

Hyundai has an awesome contest going on where you can submit a photo of your family rocking out for a chance to win a Santa Fe from Hyundai, a trip to the Grammys, and a photoshoot for Rolling Stones! Awesome set of prizes there! See the video below for more details:

I have a five year old and at a recent play date he and his friend H sang “potty talk, potty talk” to the tune of “lollipop lollipop” for at least 30 minutes. I guess it could have been worse.

What portable speakers did you get? I have a squeezebox in an attempt to get my digital music to other parts of the house but it works TERRIBLY with the wireless server so much so that I think I’m going back to a portable speaker plan, but I’m baffled by what to get and I worry that they’re mostly ugly. (Although so is the squezebox, so I guess that’s a wash.) Thanks!

This is something I hope to do as a family, too! It’s funny you bring up Lollipop, considering I had totally forgotten dancing around with my cousin to that song, from the same soundtrack. Hello flashback!
