Ever since we cancelled cable/tivo, nights around here are really hoppin’. Jared and I were playing around with a photo technique the other night called ‘ring lighting’. It produces an even light in a dark room for very close portrait type shots. We made a poor man’s ring light on photoshop, like the one above in this photo. There is a flickr page devoted to this technique which talks about how to DIY.A friend of jared’s does it really well too.

We didn’t have quite the right lens for me to get close enough and for the effect to be that great, but you get the idea with the pic of me above Jared took. Anyway, give it a try, it sure beats local tv.
