Growing up my mom would always pull out a stack of Halloween books about this time of year. I love that she kept them tucked away all year and only let us enjoy them for about a month. It made them all the more special and spooky! Of course I was thrilled when she sent my daughter Hazel a Halloween book in the mail last week. Time to carry on the tradition!
- Boo! By Leslie Patricelli (this is the darling book my mom sent. I love this author)
- The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything by Linda D. Williams
- The Halloween Tree by Ray Bradbury
- Pete the Cat: Five little Pumpkins by James Dean
- Skippy Jon Jones in Mummy Trouble by Judy Schachner
- Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson
- The Monster at the End of This Book by Jon Stone (my favorite growing up!)
- Ten Timid Ghosts by Jennifer O’Connell
- Bone Soup by Cambria Evans
- How Many Seeds in a Pumpkin? By Margaret Mcnamara
What’s your favorite Halloween book?
These are all great…have you seen or read “No Such Thing” with the kids? It’s our new seasonal favorite. 😉
We just bought Room on the Broom last week and it’s quickly becoming one of our favorites!

I loved this one when I was little and now my kids love it too: “It’s Halloween” by Jack Prelutsky.
“Who’s There’s, Little Hoo?” by me!
