With work and a lot of schools at home still, life/work balance has become way more challenging with a silver lining that schedules have become more flexible too. Here’s a peek into ours…

Henry and Edie are back in school most days, but Dot and I are pals for a couple full days each week.
We start the day with ‘snuggle town’. Which just means we stay in our pjs for a while in the morning and read books together in bed. Dot loves to read me looonnng books (which sometimes means I get an extra couple minutes of snooze in there if I haven’t had my morning coffee yet).
Every PG&E customer has the option to pick a Time-of-Use rate plan where you can manage energy costs and help the environment by shifting what time of day you use electricity-hungry appliances like dishwasher and washing machines. This means that using these appliances during off-hours like morning and midday are going to be less expensive because that is when demand is lower and renewable resources, like solar power, are most plentiful.
Dot and I often do household chores midday when she’s home with me like laundry and dishes. This age is so delightful when they’re so eager to help and be given a ‘big kid’ responsibility like folding laundry or loading a dishwasher. She really is such a delight as my sidekick at home!
This Time-of-Use rate plan that all Californians will have the option to select is slowly rolling out over the next year. It’s part of a statewide effort to create a cleaner energy future, and help manage energy costs. Hooray for a silver lining of spending extra time together at home!
What silver linings have you seen from all this time at home?
