5 Tips for Organizing Baby’s Changing Area

mustela

I’m working with Mustela today to talk about organizing baby’s changing area today.  When Mustela contacted me about working together on a few posts I was thrilled because we’ve been huge fans since I was gifted a Mustela lotion at Edie’s baby shower. My friend who gave me this gift I consider the baby whisperer because she always knows exactly what to do with babies (do you have a friend like that too?). It doesn’t help of course that she’s in the health care profession as well.  Anyway, in the note with her gift my friend told me that this French brand, Mustela, was her secret. It was her absolute favorite, although I was surprised I had never heard of it! Now we’ve become big fans of Mustela as well and I love to give new mom Mustela products too.

Because Edie shares a small room with Henry, there’s limited space so I have to be very deliberate and organized about everything. Her changing pad is secured on top of their shared dresser and we hung this simple white shelf (above) into the room as well to keep all of her small care items, and a few of her cute little shoes and hats we well. Here are 5 tips to organize your own baby changing area.  I’d love to hear your ideas as well!

1. Have baby care items handy and display in pretty jars, like these white enamel ones. We display our pretty lotions and creams as well, like the Mustela PhysiObebe (cleaning solution for diaper changes), and the Hydra Bebe Body Lotion (the smell is amazing).

For a while we kept baby’s care items (like a comb, finger clippers, baby medicine) in the bathroom with the other family’s items but I found that I liked them right close and in reach to the changing area.

2. The second tip is covering your wipes container with a simple piece of fabric and glue. The patterns are always such an eye sore on those wipes containers so I like to cover it. If you use a hard case like this one below, you can re-fill it and won’t need to keep buying more cases. You only need to buy and cover one. I think it’s worth it.

3. Hang and display those adorable baby shoes and hats. They only stay cute for so long, might as well put them front and center!

4. You don’t need a changing table. You can secure your changing pad on any surface. I’ve always used the top of a dresser to put the changing pad on. It comes with small nails you can secure to the back so it can’t slip off. That way, you can free lots of space in the room.

5. Take things out of their original packaging whenever possible (like the diapers here below). It saves space and looks so much better when things are neatly stacked.
