I was listening to The Longest Shortest Time podcast last week and heard the best (and weirdest) parenting tip when you’re exhausted and the kids want you to play with them…
It’s a game and it’s called What’s On My Butt. Stay with me, here! You lie down on your stomach, wherever is comfortable: bed, couch, floor. Tell the kids to grab an object around the house and place it on your butt. You have to close your eyes of course and let’s hope they take a nice looooong time to find the perfect object. You have to guess what the object is when they place it on you. Of course, it’s virtually impossible (unless it’s a human like in this case when Dot and I were playing), so they will likely always win. And you’ll win too because your involvement in the game involves resting. So there. Parenting tip for today! It made me laugh so hard and also, major props to the genius exhausted parent behind coming up with this game.
Brilliant! I also play draw a letter on my back with their finger and I have to guess…it’s a great way to relax and play! Happy creative playing/relaxing!
This whole post inspired me to share my own ideas for fun games where parents get to lay down with their eyes closed:

This is hilarious! Such a good one.
Haha, such a cute game! And a great way to make the kids stay still, too. 🙂
