We wanted to shine some light on a few really wonderful organizations that would love your support this holiday season. A donation to a cause that is dear to a family member or a friend makes for a truly meaningful gift. Below are a few ideas on ways to give. We are focusing on national and international groups that give the majority of their funds to charitable programs (not administrative costs). But I encourage you to research local organizations in your communities too. If you’d like to help, Liz is organizing a drive to raise clipper cards for bay area refugee families (more info here on our instagram).
Ways to Give Back This Holiday Season
The International Rescue Committee helps restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing and power to refugees. For $58, you can support a girl to go to school for a full year. I love this initiative
Unbound provides financial support, services and encouragement to individuals and their families living on the margins of society around the world
Help a public school teacher in your community purchase much-needed materials and experiences for their students with DonorsChoose
Water.org empowers families with access to safe water and sanitation through small, affordable loans
Honor the animal lover in your life by making a donation to the Wildlife Conservation Society and they will send them a personalized letter
If you’re looking for something tangible to gift….
I bought this rad T-shirt for my daughter last Christmas, 30% of proceeds go to Girl Up.
100% Human pins with $5 going to the ACLU (image above)
Ever lanes %100 Human Collection donates $5 from each item sold to the ACLU, the HRC and Equality Now.
Checkout Preemptive Love Coalitions Shop to purchase beautiful items from a refugees small business or invest in that small business with the purchase of tools or livestock.
What a great post! Thank you for sharing meaningful ways to give back! My husband and I love to donate over the holidays as well. So important to spread love and kindness during the holiday season
Giving back is a great thing to do this season. I will be helping out at my local charities this holiday! 🙂
