This time of year, festive decorating can easily become overrun with ribbon, trimmings, dancing santas, and bottle brush trees on every surface. I love the trend of using natural materials in our holiday decorating. Here are a few easy ideas…
Dried Orange Garland. We made this last year (instructions here) and it found a permanent place on our mantle. Also, it makes the house smell amazing! (image from A Daily Something)
Fir Branch Bottle Candlesticks. Such an easy activity with a simple, nordic vibe. We’ve been lighting candles every night. It’s one of our new holiday traditions. Find instructions on making them here (main image and image on the left)
Natural stick stars. Grab a few sticks and tie the ends together. I love these natural take on the classic Christmas symbol (image to the right)
Orange Pomanders. A fun activity to do with the kids to hang and display. Such a great scent too! I love giving these away for neighbor gifts as well (image and instructions here)
Natural Garland Above bed. I love this idea, only I can’t stop thinking of those leaves falling on my head while I’m dreaming of sugar plums (image to the right here)
Wild wreath. I love a wild wreath these days. Grab a branch or two from your yard and hang with a string or ribbon, with some greenery. So easy, sophisticated, and beautiful (Image from Kendra Smoot’s feed)
Mini trees in vases. Snip a branch off an evergreen and place in a pot, Charlie Brown tree style. Holiday decorating DONE (image on the right)
Natural Candle Display. Grab some greenery and pinecones on a tray to display candles (image to the left)
That dried orange garland is beautiful! I need to make one for my home!
I love the dried orange garland DIY! As a citrus freak, it hits all the right notes! 🙂
