We’ve got another easy Thanksgiving idea for you today: simple honeycomb turkeys to decorate each plate. I guess technically they aren’t place cards because there’s no name on them. They’re just plate decor (is that a thing? On Thanksgiving it is!). You could certainly write a name on a feather, but we went the simplistic route and left them blank.
DIY Thanksgiving Turkey Place Cards
Here’s how to make them in three easy steps…
Supplies
- 1. Mini 2” honeycomb balls
- 2. Felt in fall colors (we just got this big rainbow pack so we’d have every color to choose from)
- 3. Toothpicks
- 4. Glue
- 5. Scissors
- 6. Pen
Step 1
- 1. Cut out long teardrop shaped feathers in a color scheme of your choice. Ours were about 3 inches long. We experimented a lot with the shape and above was what looked the best-and more turkey- to us
Step 2
- 1. Glue the feathers in a fan with Sticky-Tac or hot glue
Step 3
- 1. Open up your honeycomb ball half way and glue onto the felt feathers. Stick a toothpick into the bottom of the ball to secure, trim any visible edges. If you don’t add a toothpick, the honeycomb will fold right up even with the glue.
That’s it! We used fall colors in differing color stories for each turkey.
I LOVE how these turned out! So cute!
These are such a fun and simple idea! I love it!
