I’m not great at New Years resolutions, but I figured out a hack + a way to get the kids involved with Grove Collaborative…
A few years ago during a very serious drought here in Northern California Henry came home from school where he learned about the water shortage and became our water police. Every time the water was on he’d question our usage. Watching the clock, insisting on reusing water while we were washing dishes, and looking for little ways to reduce around the house (like demanding less baths haa!). I had never lived in a drought prone area before, so making changes to our water usage wasn’t something I was used to thinking about in my daily routine. It was funny at first having Henry be such a water police, and then kind of annoying for my 6 yr old to be watching the water usage so carefully, but it actually really worked to have someone be on water patrol and remind me about it until it became something I thought about naturally on my own.
It got me thinking since of other ways we can create more sustainable practices in our home by hacking into our children’s own need for responsibility/authority and their desire to help the planet.
Grove Collaborative makes it really easy to get started on these sustainable swaps for the new year. Do you use them? They’re a curated online collection of all the best plant based, sustainable brands for your home. Brands you probably already love and use everyday like Mrs. Meyers, Seventh Generation, Method, and even their own Grove products. The prices rival those at your nearest big box store, and they price match for VIP members. Plus everything’s in one place which makes shopping so easy and convenient. I love browsing around their curated site, I always find something new to try. Also, everything is beautifully designed, which I really appreciate. I can leave cleaning supplies out without them being an eye sore!
What hacks do you have to focus on more sustainable household routines this new year?

The Largest Ever Firework Successfully Explodes Over Colorado
STEAMBOAT Springs, Colorado, was briefly home to the world’s largest firework on 8 February. Weighing around 1270 kilograms, roughly the same as a small car, the 150-centimetre shell travelled at more than 480 kilometres per hour from a steel tube embedded in the nearby Emerald mountain.https://www.ladieshabits.com/post/The-Largest-Ever-Firework-Successfully-Explodes-Over-Colorado/0
