This DIY idea actually came as a necessity when we couldn’t find the right twill fabric to make a kids apron and I thought…hmmm…what if we use this $1 dish towel from IKEA instead. It’s the simplest project and I love how it turned out! No sewing. 3 steps. Takes less than 5 minutes to make. Perfect for holiday baking with the kiddos! I might make a whole bunch now for holiday gifts!

Supplies: Kitchen Dish Towel from IKEA (they’re $3.99 for a set of 4), stitch witchery, iron, glue gun, scissors, ribbon.
Instructions:
Step 1: Fold the edges over, pin and trim.
Step 2: Using a piece of stitch witchery, press a seam and then fold again and iron the pieces together with the stitch witchery in between.
Step 3: Glue ribbon around the neck and on the sides to tie (we tried using stitch witchery on this part but found hot glue was a better hold here).

I have been looking for aprons to work with my class of preschoolers, the ones I found were too expensive. Then I came across your site, and I am so happy, it was affordable for me to give each child their apron and have them decorate them for our cooking theme
Thank you
Love this idea. Would it be possible to give measurements of the ribbon around the neck and ribbons at the waist? Also how wide is the neck at the top. I’d love to make one as a surprise for my grandson who is 4, but he’s not here to get measurements. Thanks!
I love the ribbon you have. Where did you buy that?
This tutorial is so great! Thank you for sharing, I love how the little apron turned out and what an awesome and easy project.
