Mile Rock Beach

IMG_6870This past weekend we took a sunset hike down to Mile Rock Beach in Lands End which is on the western edge of San Francisco. With gorgeous scenery and an easy hike to do with kids, it’s one of my very favorite spots to explore. It was also Edie’s first time to the ocean! She was snuggled up against me listening to the waves and wide eyed the whole time. Taking it all in. I can’t imagine a better way to experience the pacific ocean for the first time.

milerockbeach1Right on the cliff with a view of the GG bridge, the labyrinth doesn’t get much more scenic than this! I hear sometimes they light it up on Christmas Eve, but I’ve never seen it in person. I had to look it up, but the difference between a labyrinth and a maze is that a maze is meant to confuse you with obstacles and multiple paths. A labyrinth, however, is just a complicated single path from one point to another.  If you stay on the same path you’ll make it to the end, if you’re patient enough.  It took a few minutes for Henry to finish and then he begged to do it again.

IMG_6885I was glad Edie was content to just sit and watch because my mom guilt has been kicking in lately and I’ve been feeling bad about not spending as much time one on one with Henry. He’s had me to himself for 6 years and it hasn’t been easy for him to make room for a new member of the family who requires a lot of attention and isn’t too much fun to be with yet.

I keep on telling him just to give it a few more months and it’ll get better, she’ll be more sturdy and responsive and before he knows it they’ll be best of friends. He isn’t the only one impatient for that day to come. I feel like I’ve been waiting years for that too.

milerock2After our walk I uploaded the photos to Adobe Revel on my computer. You can view them in a grid like you see below, or click through them individually. I can now access the photos from all my devices and also share the link with family and friends. Wow, your adventure was amazing. I haven’t been out west since I was a toddler! We live in the midwest so it’s not an easy trek, especially with a toddler. On another note, I’m 7 years older than my brother and I get along with him worlds better than my sister, who is just a couple years younger than me. Oddly enough, most of my friends who have siblings close in age don’t get along as well as my friends who have a 5+ age difference with their siblings. Isn’t that interesting?! When they’re young, I think it’s more of a struggle, but since they’re not young as long as they’re adults I think it works out better for the age difference. Just my opinion hehe.

Hi Jenna. So good to hear your story. I hope they get along too, I’m excited for them to have that kind of relationship soon.

Awww, they will be good friends! I have three boys (ages 15 months, 3, and 6), and while my younger two pretty much ignore each other or fight for attention, my 1 and 6 year old love to play together. They chase each other around, play peek-a-boo, and just make each other laugh. It is so cute!

i love that trail. used to walk it all the time when i lived in the richmond. what a lovely way to spend the evening. this post caught me at a time when i’ve been thinking a lot about not having more babies and how hard that has been on me. the guilt that I can barely remember what they smelled like can be suffocating.

This looks amazing, I can’t believe how close it is to your place. So jealous!

I signed up for Revel too, but I can’t find out how to share an album (as you did with this one) without also inviting people to add to to it.
I’d like to show people my albums but I don’t want them to be able to add photos or change anything. Do I need a pro account?

I’ve been combing the sites FAQ and help boards for 30 mins now without a satisfactory answer. Please Help?

Hi Kathleen! If you used the app: Go to album setting, and then share link and you can copy it or send the link in an email to friends/family or twitter or however you like. Sometimes if I just need the link to send later I send it to myself in an email or copy it.

If you used the PC version: Click on share, and then start sharing and unclick the ‘allow downloads’ button. Then if you click on view shared album it takes you to the link you use for sharing

Thank you so much Liz! Really appreciate it!
Love the photos from your trip by the way. Looks like a perfect day!
