DIY Minimal Mountain Clock

diy mountain clockWe’ve been having some major snow storms and wind chills reaching -30 that have left us stuck indoors a lot this week. I’m finding myself having a bit of cabin fever and daydreaming of heading up into the mountains to hike. minimal mountain diy clockBut I’m putting my indoor time to good use and getting a lot of crafting done! I’ve been working on a minimal clock design and my mountain daydreaming inspired me to make a mountain range shaped clock!

Supplies:
-1/8″ Birch Plywood
-1/4″ Clock Movement Kit (I painted it black)
-Pencil and Ruler
-Scroll Saw
-Belt Sander or Sand paper
-Paint and Paintbrush
-Wood Glue
-Drill

Instructions 1

Instructions:
-Use the pencil and ruler to draw out the shapes of the mountains you want. Drill two separate sets of mountains – one that is smaller to go on top of the larger one

Instructions 2
-Paint the smaller set of mountains white and let dry.

Instructions 3
-Use wood glue along the back of the white mountains and press in place on top of the larger mountains. Put some heavy books on top and let it dry overnight.
-Drill a hole through the mountains where you will want the clock hands to be.

-Attach your clock according to directions.
-Hang it up!

This is adorable. I think I should make one of these and hang it next to my Dream Board of Kilimanjaro that I intend to climb in 2015. Thanks for the idea and the inspiration.

I really love this! I made my brother a clock for Christmas and have a hankering for more of them.
