Right Side of the Sunroom: The Nursery

This post is sponsored by Adobe Revel. Revel let’s you collect memories, access them anywhere, and share creative expressions from your iPhone, iPad and computer.

nursery1bI shared the left side of the sunroom yesterday, and today is the right side: the nursery!  It’s become my happy place. When we first moved into this flat 3 1/2 years ago I thought this room would make the perfect nursery and then after lots of waiting it finally is!  I’ve loved seeing it all come together. Getting all the little clothes and blankets washed, folded and shelved for baby girl on her way is pretty much the funnest house work I’ve ever done.

I’m excited to partner with Adobe Revel for the next couple months. Revel is a new way to share photos with family and friends, collaborate on albums and comment without having to send pictures via email, create a private social media account, private blog, or post publicly on other social media platforms. Photos are synced across all your devices making sharing and editing really easy so you can share more personal photos on the go, like this sweet sleep sac my sister-in-law Megan knit for me, with close family and friends.

nursery2aFor the nursery I wanted to keep things pretty neutral with pops of neon pink and yellow. I’ve always loved that combination for a modern nursery. Neons are quite bright so I really had to keep everything else off whites, grays and natural wood to avoid too much color (isn’t that neon table gorgeous though? A new item from Land of Nod).

The danish rocking chair might be my favorite thing in the nursery right now! As many of you know, rocking chairs are the hardest to shop for because the really comfy ones are not great looking. I debated back and forth for months about what to do, what to get. I looked at everything.  In the end I loved the look of these danish mid-century ones but the prices were really high and shipping was high on top of the price too since they were mostly only on etsy and ebay. I still wanted to make it work though and knew they would retain their value if I decided it wasn’t comfy enough or needed to sell it down the road, as opposed to a new upholstered one. I was this close to getting this lovely West Elm one that’s new but I knew it would lose a ton of its value the minute I purchased it.

There are couple mid century danish designer versions that look very similar if you’re in the market. The one I like best is Frank Reenskaug, but there is also Hans Wegner. I was so excited to find one locally for a real steal and dropped everything to drive an hour+ north to pick it up from a sweet old lady. I made a new cushion and we have blankets draped on the back. I love that I can sit cross legged on it and I’m short enough that my head can rest on the back. True, it’s certainly not as comfortable as a upholstered one, but I love it none the less and if I did decide to sell it I could almost definitely get more than I paid for it.

nursery4aThe changing area is this little bookshelf Henry used to have in his room that we painted white and secured a changing pad on top. To the left I can store and display lots of things for baby like lotions, diapers, toys, books in the cute little mounted bookshelf/rack from Land of Nod and also hang carriers, blankets, etc below from the hooks.

nursery3aRight now the cradle (a vintage Jenny Lind) is in the nursery, but it will probably end up around the corner in our bedroom for the first little while. When she grows out of the cradle we’ll buy a full size crib and might transition her into Henry’s room but we’re still figuring that out! We just redecorated Henry’s room so it’ll take some work to make room for another kid in there.

nurseryadobe1 One thing that’s great about Adobe Revel is that you can access all the photos on your computer from your phone or another device. So after doing this nursery shoot, I loaded them into adoberevel.com and it syncs to my phone instantly where I can share them or view them when I’m out. I take a lot of photos for my work on this site and being able to access them from anywhere is a huge draw for me. So in a sense it’s a great kind of photo storage backup!nurseryadobe3I can share more general images of the nursery with you guys and then little specifics with close family that might be boring for you, but grandparents love like the handmade gifts and sweet little outfits received.

PS Stay tuned!  I’m sharing the DIY to make these neon animal hooks with you in a post tomorrow!

I’m sorry guys! We don’t have the paint cans anymore do I don’t know what color it was! Apologies!

Liz

Thank you or sharing this absolutely stunning space with us all! I too use Revel and LOVE IT!!

What is the paint color on the walls? It is a beautiful shade of grey!

Do you know the paint colour? It’s very bright for a grey.
Be well. Hope all goes well for baby girl’s arrival and homecoming.

Love this room!

And we can’t wait for this Little Someone to make her appearance.

Well done! So cute. Where’s the rug from? Looking for something similar for my boys?

I’m almost positive it’s from West Elm but for some reason I can’t find it online right now, although I just got it a month or so ago

I love the neon night stand, but where is that white and neon pink wall-hook-rack with the animals from? (did I miss that link?) Thanks!

Liz, this rooms looks amazing, I love the neon pops and my favorite might be that neon sidetable although the neon hooks are awesome too. where did you get those?
