DIY Spooky Styrofoam Spiders

styrofoam spiders halloween decorationsLast year we made this easy giant web with string (you can find my instructions to make one here). We loved it so much we made it again yesterday but wanted to up the ante a bit. Especially since Henry has been telling me constantly that the house is absolutely NOT scary enough. I never imagined that being a parent would mean this kind of pressure to decorate for Halloween, but it is legit my friends. He will not let down until this place is of certified haunted house status.

styrofoamspiders2We decided to make the web again but made it only in the corner (so you could actually access the doorway, and also made some of these creepy over sized spiders to live on it. A great Halloween craft to do with kids too. Left a couple styrofoam spiders under the sheets and scared the living daylights out of Jared when he climbed in last night!

Keep reading to see how we made them after the jump.

Step 1: Start with a variety of styrofoam balls from your local craft store and cut them in half. styrofoamspiders1

Step 2: Spray paint them black

Step 3: Add black pipe cleaners for legs and hot glue googly eyes on.

Step 4: Hang onto your giant web. You could adjust the legs a bit so they spider catches on the web, or even on the molding.
