Jared had a long week at work so friday night I made his favorite treat: apple turnovers. Don’t think me too domestic, these beauties take under 30 minutes:
I used store bought pie crust, cut it in fourths and added the following to each section:
handful of small diced apples
t of flour
t of cinnamon
t brown sugar
little dot of butter
Fold over and pinch, like you would a pie.
Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with sugar
Bake at 375 degrees for about 20-25 minutes
I have them baking in the oven as I type! I was making a roast and this would be the perfect dessert!
My mouth is watering as I type…
Wow this looks amazing AND doable. I might try them this weekend.Your sis in law just sent us over here to see your ruffles – they're so pretty!
WOW!! I'm really hungry!
this was delicious. i made this tonight but basted on a slight glaze of butter, cinnamon, and sugar to give it a little more sweet, and it was great.
yum. looks good.
i just picked a bunch of apples this weekend, this will be perfect
ooh the empanada idea is a good one, thanks azucar!
Great idea! I have some pie dough in my freezer from way back when (still good though) and have been wondering what to do with it. Either make a topless pie or turnovers!
mmm these look so goood!
Lucky Jared!Betsy
Super easy, Liz, and FAST! Great idea.Another idea: if you have access to a Latin food market, you can find empanada dough. They're already cut in the perfect round shape for turnovers and meat pies. Make sure to get the kind meant for the oven (it will say "horno" on the front) and glaze with an egg wash.
