Wii U Tournament Recap and Sweepstakes

Hey guys! This is my last post in the series about our Wii U multi-family game night. One of my favorite parts of the Wii U game night we hosted a couple weeks back was watching Henry play! His enthusiasm was pure entertainment to observe. He’s a really active kid, so I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised that he loves such engaging games, but this kid really got INTO it! It’s perfect for kids that age (he just turned 5) because it’s challenging but totally doable, and not frustrating like some games are. The games we’ve been playing are on NintendoLand, and there are three different types of games: team games, competition game and individual games (one person just uses the gamepad controller solo). Both the team games and competitive ‘battle’ games can be played with up to 4 people and are fun and easy to learn like playing chase! But even if you don’t know how to play they walk you through the instructions as you start so you don’t have to get briefed by your teammates beforehand. The team games are the most fun because we’re all on the same team and there isn’t one winner.

After looking at the photos taken by Robyn Kessler of Verite Photography, there were several that captured Henry’s crazed enthusiasm for Wii U (most specifically swinging around those swords in Legend of Zelda Battle Quest) that I wanted to share because they’re so hilarious:

Do you have regular game nights? We didn’t really before, but I think now it’ll become a regular occurrence. Whether with friends or just our family. We’ve been loving the Wii U that was sent and need to reclaim our trophy!  If you take pictures of your family game nights and pin them to a board before 12/22, you can enter to win $5,000 for a family vacation and a Wii U deluxe set. More details here.

The oversized trophy + flags! (read more about making the flags and trophy here)

The caramelized onion, blue cheese sliders with mini flags! (read more about food and set up here)

Shout out out to my awesome mom who was in town and cut all those mini flags out for me (while also making us dinner and organizing our cupboards- hooray for moms!)

The edible medals. More fruit loops made it into their mouths than actually onto the medal but at least they were entertained and looked cute in the process!
