Hi friends! Today I’m jumping on a flight to Alaska for a backpacking trip with some girlfriends. This girls backpacking trip is a new tradition we started two years ago. Remember the Maine canoe trip we took? It was life changing and exactly what I needed to recharge. Last year I missed the yearly trip since I had a nursing newborn. But this year we’re going big: Alaska! We’ve been planning this Alaska trip for months and months and I’m so excited (and also nervous!) that it’s actually happening…
We’re spending 5 nights backpacking on the Chilkoot trail, which is a famous trade route between Alaska and British Columbia. It’s 33 miles of beautiful country on the coastal mountains that became even more popular with the Klondike Gold Rush of 1898. Hoping to avoid bears + blisters, and strike gold (if we’re lucky!).
Before and after the backpacking trip, we’re taking some side adventures like kayaking in Glacier Bay and the Mendenhall Glacier (images below). So super excited, here’s a brief overview of the trail with photos if you’d like to learn more about it.
I’m taking a posting break while I’m gone until July 18th, but, as always, feel free to scroll through content on my sidebar or follow along on instagram and instagram stories.
(PS speaking of Alaska, did you enter the Alaska Air giveaway to win 4 roundtrip tickets on instagram??)
See you on the flip side, friends!
I hope you have the BEST time! I have always wanted to go to Alaska and it will be so great yo go with your girlfriends. Very jealous.

I learn some new stuff from it too, thanks for sharing your information.
Whoa! Are you climbing the Golden Stairs? My husband and I love the show Gold Rush. Parker from the show took the same route his grandfather took back during the Gold Rush and they filmed it this past winter. They had to bail at the last minute due to weather, but not before they climbed the stairs and struck gold. You should definitely look up that special series since you are taking the same route! What a fun trip!
Sounds like an amazing trip!
I love Alaska Airlines. I was on a flight recently with a mother traveling alone with a toddler. The flight attendants were so amazingly kind and helpful to them. They made the little boy feel so special.
Backpacking in Alaska sounds like a total adventure. Have fun!
