Laundry with Toddlers: 4 More Fun Tips

maytag

A few weeks ago we shared some fun tips for getting toddlers involved in laundry, and today we have four more tips to share. So much of our laundry day activities can be kid friendly if we can get a little creative with how we think of the chores. Ashley, an assistant editor here at Say Yes, is inviting us into her laundry room once again and showing us how to make laundry with toddlers more endurable in partnership with Maytag

Ashley did a little makeover in her laundry space with a brand new Maytag washer and dryer. You can find out more about the washer in our last post, today we’re focused on the Maytag Rapid Dry Cycle. It has some awesome features like adding steam to selective cycles, advanced moisture sensors that monitor moisture levels to make sure everything gets evenly dried even in your largest 7.0 c.u. ft. capacity load (that’s a crazy amount of laundry there!). Ashley’s favorite feature is the ‘steam refresh’. She says, “This week when I forgot about my laundry that was in the dryer I threw both loads (it’s that big!) back into the dryer and hit the steam refresh button. Fifteen minutes later the clothes came out not only wrinkle free but better then when I do get a load fresh out of the dryer on a regular cycle. This option is going to be a game changer for me. Crossing my fingers that I’ll never have to pull out my iron again!”

1. Unloading clean clothes from the dryer. Let them wait for that buzzzzz telling you the load is done, and then they can help unload warm, clean clothes from the dryer into a basket or bin.

2. Hand washing doll clothes. This is a fun busy activity you can do while you’re working on the laundry. Give them a pile of doll clothes, a bin and some soapy water. When Hazel was done (but will they ever be? toddlers love any kind of water play!), Ashley showed her how to hang them on a ladder against the wall to dry.

3.  Matching socks game. Take your pile of clean socks and let your toddler help find matches! Edie has a matching socks board game that she loves. Using real socks is a more effective use of everyone’s time!

4. Teaching to fold. Simple things like washcloths and hand towels are great things to teach your little ones how to fold. They’ll be so proud of themselves to make a (kind of) neatly folded pile!
