Golden Milk

golden milk

Have you heard of golden milk? All my health-conscious friends are obsessed with it right now. It’s delicious (like a spiced chai latte!) and because it’s made with turmeric, it’s packed with a crazy amount of health benefits for your liver, heart, brain, immune system, etc. Stephanie’s been incorporating it into her night-time ritual and raving about it. So much so that we decided to try making it ourselves. Turns out it’s super simple, here’s how…

Our golden milk is made with milk, turmeric, coconut oil, black pepper, ginger, cinnamon, and honey. Pure liquid gold! Something crazy we learned too: by adding a few black peppercorns to your milk you can greatly enhance the benefits of turmeric.

You can also make this turmeric paste to keep in the fridge and add to any beverage you want.

Beware if you’re breastfeeding–I have an autoimmune issue and wanted to try out drinking golden milk because of its benefits for inflammation. I’m pregnant so checked with my doctor first, and she said that turmeric used in quantities for medicinal purposes has been proven to decrease milk supply.

This looks fantastic, and I definitely want to try it–thanks for sharing! Just a thought: while “t” and “T” are sometimes used as abbreviations for “teaspoon” and “tablespoon,” they’re also a bit confusing for readers who aren’t use to them. You might think about spelling out those measurements to clarify a bit. Thanks again.

Ok this sounds amazing! I’ve heard of the benefits of turmeric, but never really researched how to incorporate it into our diets – with Winter on it’s way, I’m definitely going to try this out – thanks so much for sharing!

I wanted to love golden milk, and used a bunch of fresh turmeric I found at the farmers market to make it with. I think it may be an acquired taste for me though, I didn’t love it. Partly because I don’t really like warm milk (or “milk”). It’s so beautiful in color though, I love the color of turmeric.

Its great with almond milk and I am sure it would be good with coconut milk.
