A Toddler Playdate with Balloons

munchkintoddler22

The easiest way to entertain toddlers is to blow up a bunch of balloons and let them go wild. Colorful balloons brighten up any playdate. At night, you can try putting glowsticks in them like we did a couple years ago. During the day, we were thinking of simple games to do with the balloons, and came up with a little balloon tennis.

To make your toddler tennis rackets: Grab some plates (these are from Oh Happy Day Party store), plastic or wooden utensils, tape, and balloons.

Glue the utensil onto the back of the plate like we did above so it sticks out from the edge. You want to make a little handle for them to be able to grab easily, so you really could use anything you could tape on (maybe a wooden spoon?). We used a few pieces of tape so it would be really sturdy.

Hand the paddles to your sweet toddlers…

Blow up lots of balloons!

Let them try keeping the balloons in the air by hitting them with their racket. If they get good at that, show them how to hit them across the net. Our net was just a line of string we attached to a nail on the wall, and tied the other end to a chair.

I like to have lots of toys around for a toddler playdate, because they get tired of one activity so easily. Munchkin makes some of my favorite products for babies and toddler, like this Galaxy Playmat. The LED lights light up which makes tummy time super entertaining! Little Bea here is also wearing a red and white sleepster from Munchkin’s line of baby clothes. It’s so soft and cozy! Perfect for those first few months when you don’t really leave the house too much with a new baby.

The galaxy playmat also has pieces that pop in and out like a puzzle, so the older kids are entertained as well while baby works on her head strength.

Another favorite toy we love from Munchkin is this Mozart Music Cube. Edie plays with this thing constantly. There are different instrument buttons on each side that you can either listen to individually, or combine together to form an orchestra. It’s a great way to introduce your little one to music. Edie now sings along to each part. It’s so sweet.

With playtime comes snacks! The Munchkin Snack catcher is our go-to snack container. Easy to get snacks out, but hard for them to fall out. Like so many Munchkin products, it’s pure genius for littles.
