I love the idea of making everyday objects (like mini matchboxes!) beautiful and special for the holidays. These mini matchbox favors can be used as place cards for Thanksgiving or the perfect experience gift written on a tiny slip of paper and left under the tree or in a stocking. Keep reading for details on making them…
1. Slide out the inside portion of the matchbox and save the matches somewhere safe and secure. With the inside section removed, wrap with kraft paper and use glue to secure. Tucks the ends into the middle and use more glue to secure.
2. Fill the inside with your message, prompts or treats, and slide back into the matchbox cover.
3. Stamp with a name and wrap with straw twine and some greenery.
For Christmas or Hanukkah, write down an experience gift you’re giving on a tiny slip of paper. Ideas could be a night out at a favorite restaurant, trip to the bouncy house, or something bigger like a birthday trip to Hawaii. Or! Even a present that didn’t make it in time like that bike you ordered one day late for prime shipping (whoops!). Wrap up the piece of paper with a description of the gift in the box and leave it under the tree for them to find at the very end, or on the last day of Hanukkah when everything else is opened. Big things in little packages!
So adorable! I love crafting with matchboxes — there’s so many fun possbilities. I am a fanatic about kraft paper too, so this idea is a match made in heaven 😉
