A Skateboarding Outing

schoola10

Last week Henry started a skateboarding class through our local SF Rec and Park and all of a sudden he’s really into it! Finally dusting off that skateboard we got him last birthday. It’s so fun to watch how quickly he can pick things up. I thought I’d share some photos today of a little skateboarding outing we took up in Marin last week.

Today’s post is sponsored by Schoola. Schoola has partnered with Tea Collection and Gymboree to raise funds for the Malala Fund. The Malala fund supports girls’ education in the most vulnerable communities around the world. By selling new-with-tags Tea Collection and Gymboree items 40% of the proceeds will go to the Malala Fund. You can also donate your own women’s and kids’ clothes to support the cause by requesting a free donation bag here. Hooray for doing a little good with your dollar by supporting girls education worldwide, and picking out new clothing for your children (or yourself!)

Henry’s a pretty confident kid. When he first started the class they divided the kids into beginners and experienced. He was placed in the beginner group, “But, mom, I’m probably the best in the group. I think if I do some tricks while the teacher is watching I could move into the experienced group”. HA! I wish I could always be as confident as he is! Henry’s wearing a shirt from the Gymboree line. It’s one of those classic oxfords that can be dressed up or down. I love it on him with some jeans and a sweater this fall.

Edie’s wearing some overalls and a tank top we found gently used from Schoola.

In case you’re unfamiliar with it, Schoola offers an easy way for families to donate brand name clothing in great condition and Schoola then sells them online with 40% of the proceeds going directly to your school for programs and enrichment. You can easily book drives for your school online but if that feels like too much work, you can also request a bag from the website and fill it yourself with clothing and then use the prepaid shipping label to return it back. They photograph and list the items for 70% off retail for sale in their online store.

Henry already has a series of ‘tricks’ he does. One is where he flips the board over and lands on the top, it actually looks pretty cool! He keeps on asking me try it but at age 7 he’s already more brave than I am.

This ramp above was a little intimidating for him at first, but within a few minutes, he was cruising up and down it!

Edie mostly wandered around climbing up and sliding down the ramps. Playing in the dirt and with sticks. I love this age where anything we do is super entertaining.
