Picnic in the Presidio with Schoola

This past weekend we went to a big weekly food truck event here in San Francisco called Picnic in the Presidio. It’s on a giant lawn where you set up blankets, kick around a soccer ball, listen to live music, and gorge yourself on all kinds of delicious food. We rode our bikes there on Sunday afternoon for lunch in some clothing from Schoola, which is a fantastic online shop for used kids and women’s clothing in good condition that donates 40% of the proceeds to public schools. Plus, starting this week the entire site is 50% and free shipping over orders of $25 which is pretty amazing when the prices are already so great. Here are some photos of our day and a bit more about Schoola, a great way to declutter your house and donate to your school…

Have your heard of Schoola? I was first introduced when Henry’s public school here in San Francisco did a fundraising clothing drive with them last month. The art and music programs at our school that are completely funded by donation, so fundraising events are really important and Schoola is a brilliant way to do it. Families donate brand name clothing in great condition and Schoola sells them online with 40% of the proceeds going directly to your school for programs and enrichment. You can easily book drives for your school online but if that feels like too much work, you can also request a bag from the website and fill it yourself with clothing and then use the prepaid shipping label to return it back. They photograph and list the items for 70% off retail for sale in their online store.

You can shop for name brand, reasonably priced clothing online at Schoola from anywhere. Then 40% of the proceeds go back to a well deserving school that sent the clothing for enrichment programs that schools desperately need. I just requested another bag, it’s such a great way to declutter and help fund our wonderful public schools. Great company! My favorite part may be the email you get after purchasing items that tells you how much went back to schools and which schools they went to.

Here are a couple outfits that we purchased from Schoola that we wore for the picnic. They not only have school-aged clothing but also infant and women’s clothing as well. I’m a wearing a sweatshirt from Schoola right now as I type this post. Edie is obsessed with her panda bear polka dot sweater above, isn’t it adorable? And that little white dress is perfect for summer. We’ll get a lot of use out of that. Henry got a great striped tee and an awesome zip up sweatshirt that he wears everyday.

We rode our bikes down to the picnic, played soccer for a bit, and then took a loop around to see what food trucks sounded the best to us for lunch.

It was a hard decision! There were so many great options: BBQ, Vietnamese, waffle sandwiches, fried chicken, brick oven pizza, ramen, falafel, etc. Not to mention desserts like creme brulee and lemon ricotta donuts…yum!

Henry went with the hot dog which I think later he regretted, “Mom, I can’t believe I biked all that way for just a hot dog”. I hate when that happens! I got a falafel salad (SO GOOD) and Jared got a bbq beef sandwich.

Edie got a whole flat of strawberries and raspberries, of course. That’s about all she eats these days. This little strawberry shortcake of ours is quite particular. I was cringing a bit watching her stain her new Schoola outfit but thank goodness for washing machines and stain remover!

Edie was excited to meet some of the dogs there. She calls them ‘woof woof!’ which is so stinkin adorable it kills me.

We had such a fun afternoon at The Picnic in the Presidio. Excited to come back again soon!

Thanks to Schoola for sponsoring this post and creating such a wonderful way to purchase used kids clothing and support your local public school at the same time. Check out Schoola to get a donation bag sent to your home or organize a fundraising drive at your school.

Oh, my heart! Your family is beautiful and I love Schoola’s social responsibility initiative. I also love your blog, which I visit for all kinds of inspiration.

Love this! I’ve been dying to get to Off The Grid for dinner one night, maybe this summer when there isn’t homework. We did a Schoola drive for my son’s school and it was a great way to raise funds for the school!

Lovely photos! I love that picnic blanket. Would you share where it’s from? Thanks!
