Stinson Beach

Last week a few of my close girlfriends from Manhattan came out to a small beach town north of San Francisco called Stinson Beach. It was a little cloudy on the beach but there was so much to do in the area, we really had a wonderful time.

Henry had a friend his same age so they were in heaven playing together

We stayed in these adorable cottages a few blocks from the beach. They were perfect because the doors all opened up onto a beautiful shared deck and the kitchen was amazing! Every night we bought fresh produce from the local market and cooked up some seriously delicious meals.

There was even a lemon tree full of lemons ready to be picked to make fresh lemonade

On my goodness! Crazy story! One day at the beach a baby great white shark beached itself in the shallow water! It took a while to help it get back to the open sea and as you can imagine, it drew quite the crowd. Poor little guy!

Another day we headed up to Bolinas Bay and Point Reyes. The tide pools were so fun to explore and we hiked up to some incredible views

For the first time all week, we found sun in Tomales Bay and planted ourselves on the sand all afternoon.

One of our girlfriends brought a manfriend who was embraced completely because he was an amazing cook and built sand castles with the kids. He even put up with all of our girly talk. If he was trying to impress us and our girlfriend he was certainly doing a good job!

We already decided we’re making it a yearly tradition. Do you do anything like this with old friends?

thanks for the inspiration & link to these adorable cottages! i really look forward to a little "staycation" with my soon-to-be-hubby sometime in the future! ana :: luckyinlovesf

I had to do a double take at your last photo because I went to school with Kendra's husband and Carol! Such a small world. It looks like you had a great time!

Coveting your son's gray sweater. For myself or for my kids.

Jenna, what a small world!Lisa, the link is in a comment of mine earlier.

Looks like such a fun and relaxing time! What waas the name of the place you stayed???The meal being prepared by the HUNK… please share the recipe.

This is totally random and kinda creepy but I just had to comment. I was just introduced to your friend last week in Utah by a family friend Jason (who is her brother in law I believe). We talked about Iceland for a bit cause I just went there and apparently she goes there for work. Anyway, such a small world. I never imagined I would see her again!

Sounds lovely. Must try this sometime soon. I've been having a hankering for Nothern CA the past few weeks.

My college roommates and I (four of us) get together about once a year – usually close to where one of us lives. We've been to SF and the wine country, Omaha (great city!), Denver/Boulder, and Phoenix/Tempe. We take turns planning where to stay, what to do, and most importantly, where and what to eat! We always have a wonderful time.

Anon, the sandals are from salt water. The cottage link is in my comment above!

beautiful blog!! I'm wishing for summer days, at the other side of he world…

Would love to know more about the Stinson Beach cottage rental … is there a link? Thank you!

What a wonderful time. Such a beautiful place! Hoping to get to the beach at the end of the month. My groups of friends has gotten to the point where we realize it will have to be a planned trip every year if we want to see eachother and our kids grow! We are all over the U.S. 🙁

this post has me craving a trip to stinson! i grew up just a 15 minute drive from stinson beach and spent my high school summers winding up and down mt tam for trips to stinson. this has inspired me to gather some friends and take a trip over there! great photos!

So lovely! That will be a wonderful tradition.Off topic but i am loving the sandals in the first photo. Any info on them? 🙂 Thx!

seriously. your photos make me miss places like tomales bay…that was our getaway from sacramento's scorching summer heat. looks like you had a lovely time indeed!

Wow, looks like a fabulous break. And the cottages look AMAZING!

Hey, I didn't know you were friends with Kendra! She's so great. Looks like an amazing trip!

love the photos! so much fun….no traditions… we just make a huge effort to see each other at least once a year, but its so difficult because I live so far away and many of my friends don't have the money to make the big trip. Its mostly me that has to go to them.

looks like a fabulous time! The pictures are beautiful!

Wow, I would love to do something like that! Right now all of my college friends live all across the U.S. so its a little hard to get together (plus most of them are either pregnant or have newborns 🙂 but I would love to eventually start a tradition like this!

Shauna, they are actually my sister in laws but I think she got them from Target?

Cara, Cape Cod sounds amazing. Even though I'm from NY I've never been! I'd love to hear a recommendation of a rental if you have one

I love stinson beach. I actually got the worst sunburn of my life there on a family vacation. (and I still have happy memories associated with the place!)

would you be willing to share where you got the red beach chairs for the kids? those look perfect for my little ones but I haven't seen anything like them near me.

Stinson beach is the best and those cottages are so pretty! Glad you had fun and made some great memories!

I would have never know how long it took for the shark to get back because as soon as I realized it was a great white shark I would have been running in the opposite direction. eep. 😉

Would you be open to share the link to the place where you stayed?

What a fun thing to do. I love the idea of get together s like this! What a cool opportunity to see a baby great white! Scary but timely for shark week, eh? Also, that manfriend is very cute so I hope your girlfriend was impressed because he sounds like quite the catch.

My girlfriends try to do a weekend like this in Chicago or Cape Cod every summer. Looks like a wonderful time, those cottages are dreamy.

Our annual girlfriend trip is this next weekend. Can't wait! This makes me want to plan one in San Francisco for next year! Very cool.

That place looks amazing! How fun!! I would love to do this with my girlfriends.

I try to get together with old friends at least once a year, but we don't have any planned traditions so I'm a little jealous. (And also a lot jealous of that kitchen, wow!)
