Healthy After School Snacks in Chalkboard Labeled Jars

With school now in full swing, Henry’s summer habit of snacking all day (I have no idea who he gets that from) has come to an end and we’re now back at the mercy of an 11am scheduled school lunch. Not surprisingly, by the time we pick him up he is starving! Instead of the usual back and forth about what to have after school, I partnered with NatureBox to provide a selection of healthy and interesting snacks in pretty chalkboard labeled jars just the right height for him to reach himself in the cupboard. I don’t have to worry about how much or what he’s eating, I know all of the choices in front of him are healthy and delicious.

We made the chalkboard labels with sticky black chalkboard contact paper and a chalkboard pen (the best invention!). We found some pretty weck jars and labeled the snacks for this month’s box. Chalkboard labeled jars are a great way to store snacks that disappear quickly because you can easily erase and re-write. I do find that a wet towel is needed for the chalkboard markers, they tend to be a bit more stubborn than regular chalk.

We filled up the jars with all the delicious snacks from NatureBox. If you’re unfamiliar with the company, they are a subscription based service that sends you healthy snacks (over 100 choices) each month. I think something like this would be perfect for a busy home or office where you want there to be an never ending supply of healthy snacks but don’t want to have to make lots of decisions or worry about it staying stocked. In fact you can choose the ones you want or just be surprised! All of the ones we tried were delicious. There were about 12 different varieties and they were all excellent. I think our favorites were the garden tomato crunchies, baked cheddar potato sticks, big island pineapple, and lemon pucker pistachios. I love their commitment to no high fructose corn syrup, no trans fast, no partially hydrogenated oils, no artificial sweeteners, etc. All good for you, yummy, interesting, flavors and combinations. I feel like this might be a game changer for after school snacking around our house!
