DIY Polka Dot Tray

diy polka dot trayThis is a super simple project and an easy way to breathe new life into your old serving pieces. I’d love to make a whole set of these: plates, cups, bowls. I’m getting all excited just thinking about it, gah!

diy polka dot tray I used a porcelain tray (I actually found this cool one above on amazon of all places) and a black porcelaine pen to make the dots.

diy polka dot trayYou can create perfectly round circles in different sizes by playing around with the amount of time you press down on the tip. Let it dry overnight and then back at 300 degrees for 35 minutes. You can put it in the dishwasher after you do that!

Wow! That tray is a cool find. I’ve been wanting to try playing around with a pen like that too.

i’m curious…do you think these trays are foodsafe? i clicked over to amazon and see that they indicate for art/painting purposes and that the enamel chips off. lovely idea!

The idea is really cute and simple, but thank you for sharing where you found this tray. I was looking for something like this. 🙂
