I love having a few handmade ornaments hanging on the tree. These DIY acorn ornaments are a really fun activity to do with kids and a beautiful result. You can paint them any color you’d like to match your holiday decorating aesthetic. I went with rainbow because you really can’t go wrong with rainbow in my book.
It would be really cute to attach one to a special gift too, don’t you think? Keep reading to see how to make them!

Supplies:
Acorns tops, either foraged or you can buy some on etsy
Polymer clay
Gold jewelry hooks (they’re actually called filigree bead caps). I got mine from our local hobby store, but you can find them on etsy
Hot glueStep 1: Roll your polymer clay into balls. A great activity to do with kids! Just be sure to keep them a size that will fit in the acorn cap. Bake according to your polymer instructions until hard.
Step 2: Glue your jewelry hooks onto the top of your acorns. You may need to sand then down if your acorn has a nub on top.
Step 3: Paint your balls in pretty colors with craft paint and let dry
Step 4: Glue your balls into your acorn caps and then thread a ornament hook through the top
I love how these resemble colored christmas lights, yet incorporate a bit of nature. So fun!
