Leather and Jean are two of the hottest materials for fall. Leather is chic, classic and gives off a little edge while jean is casual, timeless and acts as the perfect layering piece. I have yet to add either jacket to my closet and I’m feeling really torn about which one I’d choose. You almost have to have both! Which jacket would you pick?
i bought my jean jacket a couple years ago. and i wasn’t sold on it either. but, let me tell you. it’s now one of my favourite things i own. i am so glad the cool weather is coming back & i can break that baby out.
Leather, leather, leather! I haven’t worn a jean jacket since middle school. I feel like a timeless leather jacket is a wardrobe investment you really can’t pass up. It can be fun/warm on a night out or edgy and chic while moving about town.
I’d definitely go leather over jean for fall – jean jackets are very “late summer nights” with shorts in my mind and I love the texture leather adds to a basic fall ensemble of skinnies + top. that all being said ..your jean jacket pick is fab.
I would go leather, jean jackets bring back a lot of fashion mishaps of the 90s for me.
After being “anti” jean jacket for years (reminded me too much of sixth grade fashion nightmares) I’ve fallen in love with the look! I’m still not crazy about leather but my best friend has a huge collection of leather jackets and rocks them spectacularly
I totally know what you mean about being anti jean jacket… I feel like part of me still isn’t converted. But maybe if I actually tried one on it I’d be sold 🙂
Leather! You can’t go wrong with a light-weight leather jacket. It works perfectly on cool Cali summer nights and equally well during the day in the winter over a light sweater. I’m partial to spending a bit more on a nice leather jacket that is timeless. The quality of the leather and construction matter and are worth the extra cost.
Are there specific jackets you love right now?
Not really… but I’m on the hunt! Do you have any to recommend?
As for leather jackets, it sort of depends on your price point. I think Vince and AllSaints have great, timeless options. I’ve also seen decent look-a-likes at stores like Top Shop that are a bit more reasonably priced. Good luck:)
I have both! I mostly wear my (fake but realistic) leather jacket when it’s colder or when I wear jeans (pants) because I can’t bring myself to do jean on jean. I like to wear my light jean jacket with dresses or colored pants. I would looove to have a real leather jacket though, it’s so chic!
