We are back from our trip but now our computer is broken so I won’t be able to blog much this week most likely. In the meantime, I need suggestions for a good book. I just finished “The Glass Castle” by Jeannette Walls which I loved. I’d like to maybe read something to help me get ready for Mr. Peanut, but possibly more entertaining than “What to Expect When You’re Expecting”. Any suggestions for either good baby books or just any ol’ good book you’ve loved?
In prep for Mr. Peanut (and for sanity’s sake): The Girlfriend’s Guide to Pregnancy. Blunt, funny, and informative (be sure to read about what to pack for the hospital).
My favorite book of all time is “The Poisonwood Bible”, and currently I’m enjoying “Reading Lolita in Tehran”, but if you want a light read, anything by Alexander McCall Smith is light and easy.
For a baby read, you may like Operating Instructions by Anne Lamott. And just for fun, have you read The Pleasure of My Company, by Steve Martin? Hilarious.

I just read, “The Namesake,” by Jumpha Lahiri, and loved it.
Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen h- best book I’ve read in a long time.
I already told you this but I just finished The Other Boelyn Girl and LOVED it. Also, These Is My Words is really good but maybe not the best option while pg, I cried SO hard through the entire thing and I wasn’t pg then!
Hot Mama is a cute book for expecting gals… what happened to the computer? soo sad when it doesn’t work…

If you are looking for fiction, go get a easy, summertime read like Devil Wears Prada. You’re pregnant – save Tolstoy for when you aren’t tired all of the time.For baby books, my absolute favorite is The Baby Whisperer Solves All Your Problems by Tracy Hogg. I have followed a lot of her recommendations and Annabelle has been a very content and happy baby.
I just finished reading “These is my Words” By Nancy Turner. Loved it! It’s a diary (fiction) about Sarah Agnes journey to the Arizona Territory back in the 1880s.
Liz, I love “Maximum Ride.” Has nothing to do with babies but takes your mind off of things.Also, you’ve probably already read it but the “twilight” vampire series I love too.If you’re having him naturally I’d recommend the old school library books on birthing. They are from the 70’s & have really graphic pictures & for some reason all the up-front info helped me out tons & I did it easy!
I’d recommend “I Capture the Castle” by Dodie Smith. It’s a coming-of-age story that takes place in 1940s Britain. Another novel that takes place in 1940s Britain (but is a lot more famous- Keira Knightly recently starred in the film) is “Atonement” by Ian McEwan. Both are page-turners and excellent.
