It’s so different now than when I was a child. Today, there are online parent portals, email updates and automatic text notifications from the school. These give teachers the ability to keep parents in the loop about weekly assignments and offer them a window into the daily happenings in their children’s classes. But I was curious, “What do teachers actually want the average parent to do with this information?”
Selina agreed that technology has changed the way teachers and parents communicate and although not all parents have time to play a significant role in their children’s education, teachers appreciate it when they do. She went on to say that it really benefits kids to connect school and home in order to solidify learning. In fact, to learn well she said that information on any subject should come from 7 different ‘touchpoints’ (ie: school, home, group work, field trips etc…), and the more times you can bring learning concepts into the real world the better.
My kids are also terribly lazy and don’t want to learn. And to be honest, their grades deteriorated during distance learning. Fortunately, there are now many services like https://wowgrade.net/ that can help you with your studies.
Interesting article with useful advice! I like such content. I often do homework with my children. I think that it helps to understand the abilities of them better. Sometimes we use additional services such as Edubirdie, to do our homework properly. I like that we can go to this site and find here everything we need. For example, here, I can order a college application essay and other useful things.
As I sit supervising my 13 year old finish his humanities assignment this was a great read…it is a juggle to make sure you are guiding but helping when needed. Digby is my first through High School and we are definitely trying to find the way together. He has twin brothers starting High School next year so hopefully with the benefit of hindsight we can the balance right (and not have any ‘MUM, THIS ASSIGNMENT IS DUE TOMORROW’ situations!
Great idea for an article Rebecca! It validates some of the things we are doing, and challenges us where we could do more. Thank-you and keep these coming.
Great idea for an article Rebecca! This chalenges me to change a few things and validates where we are on the right path.
I was discussing this very topic this week with friends and family–how timely! The tips are valuable and I look forward to incorporating them into my family approach to homework. Thank you!
Great article. It is such a tough balance. Thanks for the insightful tips
Selina has excellent advice – I agree. In the end we want our children to be independent and responsible so they have to learn how to do that.
Wonderful article!
Excellent article with some great advice!
The parent-schoolwork scene is so different today than it was for me! I was super studious too growing up, so I basically did everything myself. My parents were barely involved!
