Families are the core of our Say Yes content creation, and here in the US immigrant families are currently being torn apart at the border due to the zero tolerance policy put in effect by the current Trump administration. It’s heartbreaking, and completely inhumane. Here’s are a few ideas on what’s going on and how to help. I hope you’ll find it useful and I hope we can work together for real change and quickly.

Here’s what going on and the facts. Here’s an audio recording of children being separated at the border-it’s a must-listen. More than 2000 children are being held in detention center like this around the country with no plans to reunite them with their families. The conditions are horrible.
You can find the locations here, many people are showing up to trying to protest and/or help if there’s one near you.
You can also look up immigration related organizations near you to see how you can possibly volunteer.
How to call your rep in the Senate and House of Representatives: Call 1-202-224-3121 and push one for the Senate, two for the House. Enter your zip code and you’ll be connected to someone in your rep’s office, or a voice mail. Call both the Senate and House. You can simply say, “I support the new Keeping Families Together Act and against the Trump’s Administration zero tolerance policy separating children at the border”.
June 30 is a day of protest around the country on this inhumane immigration policy. Find one in your area here or create your own.
Organizations operating at the border where you can donate: Texas Civil Rights Project (the largest detention center is in Texas), The Florence Project based in Florida (another state with a huge detention center).
Also consider donating to RAICES (our current pick). They are offering free and low-cost legal services to underserved immigrant children, families and refugees in Central and South Texas where these detention centers are.
If you’re in NYC, you can train to become a foster parent to one of these children.
The list keeps growing. Any thoughts on how to help? Please feel free to share in the comments.
This entire situation is so heartbreaking. We’ve donated to WAICES already and have contacted our senators, but I know there is so much more we could be doing.

Thank you for the resources to help. It can always feel like you’re helpless when you’re so removed from a situation or when you live so far away. I hope these children get the justice they deserve!
